Marcella M. Brownell of Columbus died Tuesday, December 13, 2005 at Sunset Haven in Curtis, Nebraska. Funeral Services are 2:00 p.m. Friday, December 16, 2005 at St. Bonaventure Catholic Church in Columbus with Reverend Tom Weisbecker officiating. Burial is in the St. Bonaventure Cemetery. Visitation is 3:00 - 7:00 p.m. Thursday with a 6:30 p.m. Rosary at McKown Funeral Home. Visitation continues Friday from 8:00 a.m. - 1:30 p.m. also at the funeral home.
Marcella M. Brownell was born in Randolph, Nebraska to Dr. Charles and Catherine (Queenie) Kelley. She attended school in Emittsberg. She then attended York College and later graduated from Kearney State Teachers College. On June 30, 1941 Marcella was united in marriage to Irvin E. Brownell at Port Angeles Washington. The couple moved to Sutherland, Nebraska where she taught school until 1961. They then moved to Columbus where she taught until her retirement. Marcella enjoyed playing bridge, traveling, reading and Nebraska football.
