Lyle R. Wolfe of Columbus died Thursday, September 30, 2010 at the Golden Living Center in Columbus.
Lyle R. Wolfe was born November 10, 1931 in Max, NE to William C. and Ruby C. (Ulferts) Wolfe. He moved to Seattle in 1936 before returning to Nebraska in 1947. He graduated from Benkelman High School in 1949. Lyle attended the University of Nebraska-Lincoln for 2 years before serving in the US Army during the Korean Conflict. He returned to Nebraska where he continued his education at UNL. Lyle moved to Columbus in 1956. He was united in marriage to Dorothy Gladfelter on June 20, 1959 at St. Bonaventure Catholic Church. Lyle worked for the Nebraska State Department of Roads for 38 years as a project manager. He enjoyed playing golf, cards, Nebraska Football, traveling, and wintering in Arizona. He was a member of St. Isidore Catholic Church where he served as an EME and as a lector. Lyle was also a member of the Knights of Columbus and the American Legion.
