Lucille C. Koopman was born October 23, 1938, at home in the Palmer area of rural Nance County to Walter J. and Mary M. (Dubas) Bosak. She was given the nickname “Tootsie” and still was known as such by family and former classmates. Tootsie attended rural Nance County one room schoolhouses and graduated from Genoa High School in 1955. She worked as a long-distance operator in Lincoln, New Jersey and Columbus. Tootsie also worked as an accountant for a tax firm and an account receivable supervisor for Valmont industries. Upon returning to Columbus, she went to work for Mid-America Research Chemical Corp. as office manager and retired in 2003 after 27 years. During those years, office procedures went from manual accounting with paper and pen and adding machines to calculators and then computer system technology. John R.
