Iona Lucille Wallace (Christiansen) (McQuiston) of David City died Tuesday, December 15, 2009 at David Place in David City.

Iona Lucille Wallace (Christiansen) (McQuiston) was born March 12, 1918 in Polk County to John and Rachel "Flossie" (Harbaugh) Heins. She graduated from York High School in 1934, received her Bachelor of Arts Degree from York College in 1938 , and received her Masters Degree from the University of Nebraska-Lincoln in 1967. Lucille was married and widowed 3 times; first to Gerald Wallace on June 1, 1941 in York, he died on in 1981, 2nd to Lou Christiansen on February 3, 1985, and lastly to Jim McQuiston in 2004. Lucille started her teaching career at Rising City High School and at Battle Creek High School. After establishing her family, she returned to teaching at a country school in Garrison, NE, at Ulysses High School, Osceola High School, and at Columbus Jr. High School until her retirement in 1973.

Lucille was active in several clubs. She was active in the Methodist Church where she served as an organist in the church choir and in the Ladies' Aid. She was a member of Delta Kappa Gamma, 50 year member of the Rebekah Lodge in Rising City, and was a past member of the Wally Byam Air Stream Trailer #30140. She enjoyed writing poetry, reading, gardening, painting, playing the organ and piano, crossword puzzles, loved roses, traveled extensively, and enjoyed playing Scrabble with her Grandkids and Great-Grandkids.
