Louis T. Yrkoski

Louis died Friday, December 23, 2011 at the Litzenberg Memorial Hospital in Central City.

Louis T. Yrkoski was born July 19, 1922 in Nance County, Nebraska to George and Veronica (Liss) Yrkoski. He attended rural Nance County Schools and Ss. Peter & Paul Parochial School at Krakow. He served in the U.S. Army Infantry during WWII from December 9, 1942 November 15, 1945. He was active on the front lines and was wounded twice, once at Monte Cassino, Italy when he stepped on a land mine and again in the Italian Mountain Ranges. At one time he was reported missing in action. He was awarded the Purple Heart & Bronze Star. Louis was united in marriage to Alice Bialas on April 26, 1954 at Ss. Peter & Paul Catholic Church Krakow. They were married 57 years. Louis was an active member of Ss. Peter & Paul Krakow. He spent his entire life farming and he especially loved his Hereford cattle. Louis and his brothers were noted for their love and ability with the sport of baseball and was an avid fan in later years. He also enjoyed polka music, hunting and playing horseshoes.
Family was everything. His wife, children, grandchildren & great grandson were his love and enjoyment. Getting together always meant fun times. He loved playing the harmonica for the grandkids, playing cards, fishing or going to the grandkids events with his wife.

Brother: Phillip (Rosaline) Yrkoski of Silver Creek, NE
Sister: Frances Yrkoski of Columbus, NE
Sister: June Stachura of Columbus, NE
Ten Grandchildren and One Great Grandson

He was preceded in death by:
