Louella D. Schmidt age 98 of Platte Center, released her soul to God, Thursday, June 4, 2009 at the Countryside Homes in Madison.
Louella Schmidt was born January 8, 1911 in St. Bernard, Nebraska to Ignatz and Rose (Remm) Beller. She attended school in St. Bernard. She was married to Albert M. "Shorty" Schmidt on April 29, 1936 St. Bernard Catholic Church.
Louella and her husband raised their family in the farming communities of Tarnov, Platte Center and Monroe, retiring to Platte Center in 1979. Louella was a member of St. Joseph's Catholic Church, St. Anne Christian Mothers, St. Joseph Sewing Circle, the Rosary Crusade and Wattsville Extension Club. In addition to being a mother, a farm hand and a homemaker, she enjoyed family gatherings, playing cards, bowling and her garden. Louella participated in the Annual 4th of July Parade in Platte Center the past 25 years as the Matriarch on the Schmidt float. Family and friends will miss her spirit and great come backs.
