Lorraine Mausbach, age 94, died Thursday, November 28, 2019 at Emerald Care in Columbus.
Mass of Christian Burial is 10:30 am Wednesday, December 4, 2019 at St. isidore Catholic Church in Columbus with the Rev. Michael Swanton officiating. Visitation is on Tuesday from 5-7 pm with a 7:00 pm Vigil to follow, all at McKown Funeral Home. Visitation continues on Wednesday from 9:30 am until service time at St. Isidore Church. Interment is in St. Michael's Cemetery in Tarnov.

Lorraine Kathleen Mausbach was born on July 24, 1925 in Green Bay, Wisconsin to Ralph and Leona (DeFrance) McGuire. She attended Annunciation Grade School and graduated from West High School of Green Bay. Lorraine began her life as a secretary for a local department store in Green Bay. She eventually met her future husband Philip Mausbach through correspondence in the St Anthony Messenger magazine. Philip and Lorraine were married on January 7, 1950 in Green Bay. After a trip to California they settled on Philip's family farm near Tarnov, NE. Thus began the life of a farmer's wife and the starting of their family which grew to 11 children, 7 boys and 4 girls. Lorraine's life was busy with babies, gardening, helping with the dairy farm, and preserving the harvest of her garden and canning fruits in season. Lorraine enjoyed sewing for her kids, knitting, cross stitch in later years, bowling with friends, dancing, and playing cards, especially sheepshead and pitch. She always enjoyed visits to see her family in Green Bay or having them come to Nebraska. She and Philip belonged to a card club and went dancing on a regular basis. In later years they enjoyed taking trips with close friends, to Florida, Colorado and California Lorraine was a member of Christian Mothers in the early years and served on the township election workers staff in rural Platte County. They were members of St Mary of the Angels rural parish and later St Michaels in Tarnov. She was dedicated to raising her family and welcoming in-laws, 26 grandkids and eventually 35 great grandchildren. Philip and Lorraine moved off the farm in 1992 and into Columbus and truly began retirement living. They became members of St Bonaventure Catholic church. She was blessed to have so many years to enjoy family and friends and her hobbies. She is survived by her husband of 69 years, Philip, children Kathy (Maury) Rayburn, Steve (Gail) Mausbach, Mary (Jim) Walker, John (Ruth) Mausbach, Joe (Donna) Mausbach, Karen (Alan) Hart, Tim (Diane) Mausbach, Maureen Mausbach (daughter in law),Tina (Dave) Luke, Tom (Jodi) Mausbach, 26 grandchildren, and 35 great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents, sister Rita, brothers, Donald, Roland and Jim and sons David and Patrick.
