Lorraine M. Egger was born May 8, 1920 in Columbus, Nebraska to Edward and Anna (Ebner) Ewert. She completed her schooling in Columbus and enjoyed small time employment. On September 8, 1941 she married Walter W. Egger at St. Joseph Catholic Church in Platte Center, Nebraska. The couple moved to Baltimore, Maryland to start their married life where Walter was employed at the Glenn L. Martin Aircraft factory. In 1943 they moved to Omaha, Nebraska where Walter was transferred to the Glenn L. Martin Factory there. In 1945 they returned to Columbus where they started a farming operation. Lorraine was a faithful helper in all of the farming operations. She also raised 1000 chickens each spring to help with the income. Lorraine enjoyed a big garden, many flowers and did a lot of canning and baking goodies. She also enjoyed playing cards and belonged to several card clubs. Her and Walter loved going to barn dances and square dances for recreation. Lorraine enjoyed taking part in all of her grandchildren and great grandchildrens school activities. She was also a devout helper at St. Joseph Church in Platte Center for many years with the Bazaars and all other activities until they moved to Columbus. They lived on the same farm for 40 years until 1983 when they retired and moved to Columbus.
