Loretta Marie Zuerlein died Sunday, December 16, 2018 at Matneys Colonial Manor in South Sioux City, Nebraska.
Mass of Christian Burial is 10:00 am Friday, December 21 at St. Isidore Catholic Church in Columbus. There will be a 4:00 CDA Rosary followed by visitation from 4:30-6:00 pm on Thursday at St. Isidore's. The Vigil service will begin at 6:00 pm Thursday, also at St. Isidore's. Visitation continues Friday morning from 9-10 am at St. Isidore Church. Interment will follow lunch at St. Francis Cemetery in Humphrey.
Loretta Marie Zuerlein was born April 14, 1942 in Yankton, SD to Emery and Marian (Hoesing) Heine. She was raised on the farm in St. Helena, NE and graduated from Mt. Marty High School in Yankton, SD. Loretta went on to attend the College of St. Mary in Omaha. Loretta married Gerald Zuerlein on July 24, 1982 in St. Helena. She taught school for 20 years.
Loretta was a member of St. Isidore Catholic Church, Christian Mothers, Catholic Daughters of America, Art Club, S.C.A., Secular Franciscans, and Birthright. Loretta was honored by the Archdiocese of Omaha as the top religious educator of that year.
