Loretta Nitz

Loretta J. Nitz, age 88, of Columbus, Nebraska died Monday, July 23, 2007 at the Golden Living Center in Columbus. Funeral Services are 10:30 a.m. Thursday, July 26, 2007 at McKown Funeral Home in Columbus with Reverend Theresa Meyer officiating. Burial is in the Roselawn Memorial Cemetery in Columbus. Visitation is 4:00 - 7:00 p.m. Wednesday and 8:00 - 10:30 a.m. Thursday all at the funeral home.



Loretta J. Nitz was born August 7, 1918 in Clarkson, Nebraska to Edward and Tillie (Kastanek) Malena. She graduated from Clarkson High School in 1937. She married Vernon Nitz on June 7, 1940 in Denver, Colorado. The couple lived in Lyons, Nebraska where they owned and operated a gravel company. They moved to Columbus in the early 1950's where Loretta worked for 14 years at the Columbus High School Cafeteria.
