Linda Melcher of Monroe died Sunday, March 29, 2015 at Columbus Community Hospital.
Linda Melcher was born May 14, 1938 in Central City, NE to Clyde and Bernice (Neel) Sawyer. She grew up in Central City before moving to Humphrey as a child. Linda graduated from Humphrey High School in 1956. She then went on to Wayne State Teachers College where she received her certificate to teach. Linda taught for one year before being united in marriage to Dean Melcher on July 27, 1957 at St. Bonaventure Church in Columbus. She was a housewife and raised their eight children. In the early 80s Linda went to work at One Hour Martinizing until she retired after 20 years. She was a member of St. Joseph Church in Platte Center and an Extension Club. Linda enjoyed playing the piano, crossword puzzles, gardening, collecting clocks, and most importantly spending time with her family and friends.
