Lillie Graham

Lillie Graham of Silver Creek passed away on September 8, 2017 at Cottonwood Nursing facility in Columbus, NE. She was born December 30, 1920 in Merrick county near Clarks Nebraska, at the home of her parents Otto and Mary (Hansen) Dittmer. She attended grade school at Rural School District #7 in Merrick County.

Lillie Graham On December 19, 1941 she married the one and only love of her life, Rex Arnold Graham in Yuma Arizona. When Rex was in the Army and they made their home in Los Angeles, California for the first year of their marriage. On October 14, 1942 Lillie gave birth to their first son Gary. After the birth of Gary, Rex was called to Germany to serve in World War II, Lillie and Gary returned home to Clarks to live with Lillies parents.

On December 14, 1942, Rex returned home from World War II and came home to be reunited with his beloved family. They lived on a farm 3 miles south of Silver Creek from 1945 to 1956 and then moved into Silver Creek. Lillie gave birth to six more children, Judy, Ron, Narka, Rick, Sindy and Todd.

Lillies many years of employment consisted of running the household while Rex was at work. She ran the ship with a calm and loving attitude and her wooden spoon in hand. Lillie worked as a part-time janitor for the Silver Creek American Legion and the Farmers State Bank for many years as well as the bookkeeper for Rex Grahams Service for over 20 years. Lillie was also a lifelong member of the First Methodist Church in Silver Creek, NE.

Lillie enjoyed spending time with her children, gardening, baking playing cards, canning and sewing. She was in the highlight of her life when there was a dance that Rex and Lillie had an opportunity to attend with friends, often stopping in the early morning hours for breakfast to end a perfect evening spent together.

Lillie is survived by her daughters Sindy (Rob)Lindow, Judy (Edwin)Stankoski, Narka (John) Braun and four sons, Ron (Sue) Graham, Rick Graham, Todd (Lisa) Graham and Gary (Sue) Graham. Nineteen grandchildren and thirty-four great grandchildren. A sister, Betty Wyman and brother in law Dennis Jasper.

Lillie was preceded in death by her husband, Rex, her parents, daughter in law Judi Graham, brothers, Ted, Jack and Bobby Dittmer, sisters Dixie Jasper, Ruth Jones
