Lester Vanek of Silver Creek died Wednesday, October 22 at his home in Silver Creek.
Lester Vanek was born February 17, 1939 at Comstock. Nebraska to Edward and Lillian (Kuklish) Vanek. He grew up and attended schools in Custer County. He graduated from Silver Creek High School in 1958. Lester joined the US Army and served his country from 1962-1964. Following the service he lived with his family in Silver Creek. Lester married Elissia Baker on June 8, 1968 in Silver Creek. He worked for Central Sand and Gravel/Lyman Richey for about 30 years. He retired in 2006. Lester was a member of the Silver Creek American Legion. He enjoyed gardening, reading, and the outdoors.

He is preceded in death by his parents, mother and father in laws, and a niece.
