LeRoy Schumacher, age 84, of Columbus died Tuesday, April 23, 2013 at Meridian Gardens in Columbus.
LeRoy was born June 30, 1928 in Platte Center, Nebraska to Frank and Margaret (Bender) Schumacher. He graduated from Platte Center High School in 1946. In 1951 he graduated from the University of Nebraska-Lincoln. He served in the United States Army from 1951-1953. LeRoy married Alvina Foltz on July 31, 1956 at St. Anthony Catholic Church in rural Platte Center. They lived in Columbus where LeRoy served as Platte County Assessor until 1964. He was an active partner in Schumacher Irrigation. Leroy was a real estate agent for Becher-Curry before owning and operating his own agency, Schumacher Realty. He also co-owned Mid-States Specialties Company for many years. Throughout his professional career, LeRoy remained active in his farming operations.
LeRoy was a charter member of St. Isidore Catholic Church. He served on the school board, ushered and lectored. He was a member of the Knights of Columbus, Holy Name, V.F.W., American Legion, Scotus Shamrock Booster Club and the Elks Club. LeRoy was always active in his sons' athletic activities. He enjoyed golfing, bowling and drives in the country in his pickup.

brothers: Matt (Thelma) Schumacher, Ralph (Alma) Schumacher all of Platte Center
sister-in-law: Bonnie Schumacher of Columbus
He was preceded in death by his parents, brother: Carl, infant sisters: Lorraine and Ramona.
