LeRoy "Lee" Iwanski, age 86, died Thursday, October 1, 2020, at the Genoa Community Hospital / LTC.
Mass of Christian Burial will be 9:30 a.m. Saturday , October 24, 2020 at St. Isidore Catholic Church.
LeRoy "Lee" Iwanski was born September 6, 1934 in Elyria, Nebraska to John and Helen (Karty) Iwanski. He grew up in Valley County and graduated from Ord High School in 1952. On June 4, 1956, Lee was united in marriage to Maxine Bernt at St. Andrew Catholic Church, rural Shelby.
Lee worked at Montgomery Ward, Business Man's Assurance Company, Franklin Life and Menard's. He was a member of the Columbus Eagles and St. Isidore Catholic Church, where he was a member of the Holy Name Society and St. Isidore School Board. Lee was also an Advisory Board Member of the Senior Center. His hobbies included camping, staying at the lake house, wood working, fishing, hunting, craft shows and casinos. Lee also enjoyed carving crosses for various Catholic charities and anyone else who wanted them. Throughout his life, he went by many names: LeRoy, Lee, Dad, Old Philosopher (his CB handle) and as his grandchildren knew him, "Save Big Money at Menards Grandpa!"
