Leonard Slovinski of Columbus died Thursday, December 2, 2010 at Columbus Community Hospital.
Leonard Slovinski was born April 25, 1920 in Tarnov to Joseph and Mary Ann (Sliva) Slovinski. He grew up and attended school in Tarnov. Leonard farmed with his dad and helped harvest in the Dakota's. On January 23, 1946 he was united in marriage to Angeline Tworek at St. Anthony's Catholic Church in Columbus. They moved to Omaha where he worked for Brandeis Furniture Store. They then moved to Los Angeles where he worked as a bus driver. Leonard and Angie returned to Nebraska where he joined his brothers at the Rite-Way Filling Station. Leonard became well known throughout the area delivering fuel to farmers. In the '60's, Leonard started Leonard's Mobile Village. They wintered in Arizona for few years before returning and starting the overnight RV/Camper Park. Leonard loved to restore items he would find and fix them up for resale. Through the years he restored and sold 35 FORD tractors. He loved to visit with people and travel, having traveled to all of the continental states. He was a charter member of St. Isidore Catholic Church, the Knights of Columbus, and the Holy Name Society.
