Leonard Eggli

Leonard died Saturday at the Columbus Community Hospital.

Leonard H. Eggli was born September 27, 1919 in Platte County, Nebraska to Johann and Louisa (Gerber) Eggli. He was raised on a farm near Genoa and moved to Columbus in 1940. Leonard married Bettie Frances Sharp on September 27, 1958 at the Zion Evangelical & Reformed Church in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma. Leonard worked for Teichs Market 5 years, Safeway for 35 years and then at Food 4 Less for 7 years until retiring. He was an active member of St. Luke's UCC . Leonard was active with the Columbus Senior Center where he received the Senior Citizen's Outstanding Volunteer Award for the city of Columbus in 1993 and was one of the first 13 nominated for the Pete Rush Service to Mankind Award. He also served as chairman of the board for the Columbus Housing Authority.
