Leona Babel

April 10, 1923 — November 21, 2014

Leona M. Babel, age 91, of Columbus, died Friday, November 21, 2014 at the Golden Living Center in Columbus.

Leona was born April 10, 1923 in Earling, Iowa to Joseph and Josephine (Blum) Gross. She grew up in Earling where she received her education. She married Elmer Babel in Earling. They lived and farmed in the Humphrey, Nebraska area. In 1965 they moved to Columbus. Leona worked at Deano's Diner, Sidewalk Cafe, Tooley Drug and the Hospital Cafeteria. She was a member of St. Bonaventure Catholic Church. She enjoyed bowling and spending time with her family.

She was preceded in death by her parents and brothers, Bob, Alfonse and Leo Gross.
