Leon Ebel, 83, of Columbus died Wednesday, May 16, 2018 at Josie Harper Hospice House in Omaha.
Leon was born in Columbus to Henry and Martha Ebel. He grew up on a farm south of Columbus and attended school in Bellwood. After graduating high school, he enlisted in the Army National Guard and was united in marriage to Dorothy in 1966. He had a 55-year banking career with First National Bank in Columbus and was also the mutuel manager of the Columbus Races at Ag Park for many years. Leon enjoyed spending time with his family and friends and he loved being around people. He will be remembered as a loving husband and father, a dedicated hard and trusted worker, a great conversationalist, and an overall wonderful person. He will be missed by all that have known him.
He is survived by wife Dorothy, daughters Kelly (Matthew) and Lisa, sisters Sharon Reisdorff and Genevieve (Bill) Smejkal, brothers-in-law, sisters-in-law, nieces and nephews. Leon was preceded in death by his parents, father-in-law, mother-in-law, two brothers-in-law and one niece.
