Leo P. Lassek of Genoa, formerly of Columbus died Wednesday, December 16, 2009 at the Genoa Community Hospital.
Leo P. Lassek was born January 25, 1921 in Platte County, Nebraska to Frank and Clara (Malek) Lassek. He received his early education at District #73 and graduated from Monroe High in 1938. Leo married Evelyn Zelasney on September 3, 1945 in Krakow. He farmed in Polk County. Leo was a member of St. Stanislaus Church where he served as a Trustee and had served on the Parish Council. He was a member of the Holy Name Society, Knights of Columbus Council #938, and was a charter member and past President of the Duncan Lions Club. He served on the Scotus School Board for 18 years and on the school board in Polk County. Leo was the past Director of the Duncan Industrial Corp and was past Chairman of the Island A.S.C. Community Committee. He was a member of the Eagle's Aerie #1834 and served as the Village Marshall in Duncan for 15 years. As recognition for his service to his community, Leo was also enrolled as an Admiral in the Great Navy of the State of Nebraska.
