Leo Gdowski was born August 31, 1919 in Platte Center, Nebraska to Stanislaus and Helen (Malec) Gdowski. He grew up during the great depression. Leo worked with his father as a carpenter and later did carpentry work for other contractors. He enjoyed studying science and was devoted to the Catholic faith.
