Lee Hinrichs, age 83, of Columbus, died Saturday, November 27, 2010 at his home.
Lee Orville Hinrichs was born November 18, 1927 in rural Pomeroy, Iowa to Orville and Lillian (Andrews) Hinrichs. He graduated from Pomeroy High School and attended Omaha College of Business. He served in the United States Army during World War II and the Korean War. He married Karen Lee Thelen on October 20, 1962 in Omaha, Nebraska. They lived in the Columbus area. He worked for Sign Crafters as a designer. He then worked for Stan Hoist before moving to Iowa in 1968. He returned to Columbus in 1971 where he worked for Creston Manufacturing selling agriculture equipment. He also worked for Henke Machine in Columbus and Phoenix Manufacturing in Battle Creek before his retirement.
Lee was a member of St. Bonaventure Church where he served as an usher for many years. He was member of the Knights of Columbus 4th Degree, Optimist Club, SCORE, along with many other volunteer positions.
Lee is survived by his wife Karen of Columbus, Children: Anita (Jim) Fish of Kansas City, MO, Ann Reins of Omaha, Brad (Judy) Hinrichs of Columbus, Jeff (Jennie) Hinrichs of Omaha, Beth Ann Garza of Columbus, sister: Shirley (Gordon) Roese of Marcus, IA, sister-in-law: Marge Gabriel of Porterville, CA
Grandchildren: Robin Birkel, Tracy (Pat) Dodd, Brandy (Troy) Rutten, April (Matt) Todd, Paul (Rachel) Scurti, Brandon Hinrichs, John (Melissa) Ernst, Amber (Kevin) Stary, Kayle Ernst, Chelsea Hinrichs, Gaby Garza, Trei Garza, Gillian Hinrichs, Alex Hinrichs,
Great Grandchildren: Quenten Birkel, Cameron Birkel, Hunter Birkel, Evelyn Birkel, Katie Scurti, Stormy Ernst, Kaedyn Stary, Taja Ernst, Nathan Scurti, Ella Jade Hinrichs,Cory Ernst, Janae Fajman and best pal Stewart.
