Leander Bower of Columbus died Friday, November 2, 2018 at the Select Specialty Hospital in Lincoln.
Leander Bower was born November 24, 1951 in Columbus to Roy T. and Velma (Hashberger) Bower. He grew up in Monroe where he graduated from Monroe High School. Lee was a standout football and basketball player. He went on to Hastings Technical College where he graduated with a auto-mechanics certificate. Lee worked as an auto-mechanic in Grand Island for 10 years. He was united in marriage to Diane Knopick on March 4, 1978 in Columbus at St. Lukes-UCC. Lee went to work for Nielsens in Columbus then later Sunstrand in York. Lee finished his work career at Appleton-EGS after 25 years there. Lee coached youth baseball for 12 years and was a Boy Scout assistant leader for 15 years. Lee himself was an Eagle Scout. He was a member of the Federated Church.

He is preceded in death by his father, Roy, and a brother Jon Bower.
