Lawrence J. Stachura, age 82 of Rising City, formerly of Duncan, died Tuesday; January 7, 2003 at the Columbus Community Hospital. Funeral services are 10:30 a.m. Friday; January 10, 2003 at St. Stanislaus Catholic Church in Duncan. The Rev. Dave Korth will officiate. Burial with military honors will be in the parish cemetery. Visitation is Thursday after 5:00 p.m. at the church. A vigil will be held at 7:00 p.m. at the church. Visitation will continue Friday morning 9:30 a.m. until service time at the church.
Lawrence J. Stachura was born June 26, 1920 in Polk County, Nebraska to Steve and Belle (Cuba) Stachura. He received his education in District #55 in rural Polk County. He served in the United States Army from October 24, 1941 until January 5, 1946. He was married to Martha M. Micek on June 16, 1953 at St. Mary's Catholic Church-Pilsno. He farmed in Polk County for 44 years with his brother Leonard. Following his retirement in 2000 he moved to Rising City. Lawrence was a member of St. Stanislaus Catholic Church, Holy Name and V.F.W.
