Laverne &Quot;Vern&Quot; Kucera

LaVerne F. "Vern" Kucera died Friday, April 11, 2014 at his home in Columbus.

LaVerne F. "Vern" Kucera was born February 29, 1948 in Columbus to Frank H. and Lillian M. (Houfek) Kucera. Vern grew up in Schuyler and graduated from Schuyler High School in 1966. He entered the US Army where he served training guard dogs during the Vietnam War. Vern returned to Schuyler where he worked various jobs. Vern then went to work as an over the road truck driver which he has done for the past 40 years before retiring. He was united in marriage to Karen Tharp on December 26, 1995 in Columbus. Vern loved working on cars, tractors, and anything that needed tinkering on. He was very proud of his yard and garden. Vern loved attending his grandchildren's sporting events and other family activities and was a strong believer in his Czech heritage.
