Lavern P. Nosal

Lavern died Sunday, December 20, 2009 at the Columbus Community Hospital following a courageous battle with lung cancer.

LaVern P. Nosal was born December 3, 1926 in Ravenna, Nebraska to Stanley and Katherine (Kuta) Nosal. He was raised in Ravenna and graduated from Kearney High School. LaVern served in the U.S. Navy during WWII from October 1944 - July 1946. On April 17, 1947 he was united in marriage to Betty Stuefer at St. Anthony Church in Columbus. LaVern was a long time truck driver in transportation affiliated with Clark Brothers Transfer for over 30 years. He was a member of St. Bonaventure Church where he served as an usher and hour of adoration. He was also a member of the Knights of Columbus and the American Legion. LaVern enjoyed Nebraska football, playing cards, gardening and afternoon coffee and conversation.
