Lavera Young

LaVera D. Young of Madison, formerly of Columbus died Wednesday, September 1, 2010 at the Countryside Home in Madison.

LaVera D. Young was born September 11, 1916 in Pilger, NE to Tom and Elizabeth (Van Buskirk) Johnson. She received her education in Madison and graduated from Wayne High School in 1934. She continued her education and received her teaching certificate from Wayne Teachers College. On May 26, 1937, LaVera was united in marriage to Max Young in Wayne. She taught school in Wayne County, Portland, OR, and then in Hays Springs, NE. LaVera was a housewife and managed the clerical duties of the family business. She was a member of the Methodist Church where she taught Sunday School and was active in youth groups.
