Larry Whiting

Larry Whiting, age 78, of Columbus died Tuesday, June 24, 2014 in Lincoln.

Larry was born July 3, 1935 in Scottsbluff, Nebraska to John and Ruth (Richard) Whiting. He grew up in Gering where he graduated from High School. He attended Scottsbluff Jr. College and graduated from Chadron State College. Larry taught for 10 years at Chadron Assumption. He then taught in Ainsworth before moving to Columbus in 1970. He taught and coached at Lakeview High School until his retirement from teaching in 1996. He continued to coach for several years. Larry was an active member of the Eagles Aerie #1834. He held numerous offices including President. He served as State Treasurer for 10 years and was an Honorary State President. Above all Larry enjoyed his family and the time spent with them.

He was preceded in death by his parents: Ruth Heine and John Whiting, sister: Diane Berry, mother-in-law and father-in-law: Adeline and Louis Reiselman
