Larry Brandt

Larry Lee Brandt, 77 of Neligh, NE, died Saturday, February 17, 2024, at Brookestone Acres in Columbus.

Funeral Service are 3:00 p.m. Friday, February 23, 2024, at the First United Methodist Church in Columbus. Visitation is 4:00-7:00 p.m. Thursday at McKown Funeral Home. Visitation will continue Friday from 2:00 p.m. until service time at the church.

In lieu of plants and flowers, memorials are suggested to the family for future designation.

Larry was born in Plainview, NE on February 8, 1947, to Rudy and Grace (Moore) Brandt.
Larry gave up schooling in the 9th grade to help out on the family farm in Newman Grove. After Larry adventured off the farm, he was united in marriage on May 15, 1965, to Nona Kay Yates. They lived in many towns before settling in Columbus. During their marriage, they had three children: Rebecca Lynn (Brandt) Baker, Christine Leya (Brandt) Robison and Michael Todd Brandt.
Before retiring, he had worked at Columbus Hydraulics, Henke Machine, Deano's Diner, and Grain Coop in Schuyler. Larry and his brother, John, also opened an appliance shop for a few years. After his brother's unexpected death, he moved to Neligh where he settled there until he suddenly had to go to the nursing home.
