Kenneth Gayle Killion Jr., aged 64, passed away peacefully in his home in Columbus, Nebraska on September 25, 2023. He was born in Wichita Falls, TX where he then moved to Oklahoma on the cattle ranch. Ken and his family moved to the state of Nebraska in 1967. He was a 1977 graduate of Aurora High School, upon graduation he pursued a wrestling scholarship at Wesleyan University in Lincoln.
Ken, or Kenny as most knew him, was passionate about several things – including his children, the ocean, and volunteering - all while living life to the fullest. He preferred to spend his days volunteering at the Mission in Columbus, playing baseball with his kids and grandkids, and cheering on the Chicago Bears. Ken was almost always outside, and his dog Beasley, was never far behind.
Ken truly was a friend to all and a stranger to none. He has left footprints everywhere he has gone. Those who are honored to have known him will remember him helping, always, with a smile.
When he was diagnosed with cancer in 2022, he made sure he let everyone know it wouldn't slow him down. Ken lived a full, happy life until the day God took him home. One of the final things he wished to do was go with his kids to Galveston to see the ocean and spend a week as a family – a memory they're proud to remember.
Ken is survived by his stepmother, Jennifer Killion, children, Katlynn (Allen) Osborn and their children Jaxton and Asher of Omaha NE, Kody Killion of Fort Collins, CO, Logan Killion of Marshfield MO, and Landon (Kylie) Killion of Omaha, NE, sister Karen Killion of Navasota, TX, and sister Amy (Mike) O'Daniel of Omaha, NE and their children, Jenna (Kyle) King, Trey (Hannah) O'Daniel, Sydney (Dillan) Olson. He also leaves behind Lori Richter, and close friends Joan, Blair, and Drake Suddarth.
Preceding Ken in death is his mother, Barbara (Marvin) Nielsen, and father Kenneth Killion Sr.
