Kenneth died Monday, December 24, 2012 at Heritage Ridge Assisted Living in Bellevue, Nebraska.
Kenneth Gabriel George was born on August 25, 1920, in Gothenburg, Nebraska, to Sam and Anna (Korrie) George. In 1923 the George family of eleven children moved to Lexington, Nebraska, where Kenny grew up and graduated from Lexington High School in 1939. His father owned a grocery store, and Kenny and his siblings worked in the grocery store. Kenny was drafted into the Army in June of 1942. He served one year at the 39th Station field hospital and then served 29 months overseas during World War II. He participated in the campaigns in Normandy, Northern France, Ardennes and the Rhineland with the 339th Quartermaster Depot Company as a warehouse supervisor. He supervised 50 men in procuring supplies for the war. He returned home in 1945 and worked in the family grocery store. He married Mabel Schake on June 20, 1948, and operated his own business from 1948 to 1958 in Lexington, Nebraska. During this time, Kenny and Mabel were blessed with three daughters. Kenny moved his family to Columbus, Nebraska, in 1958 where he and Mabel lived until 2007. Kenny and Mabel added another daughter and a son to their family during this time. Kenny worked for the Frito Lay Company for a year and for Banker's Life Insurance Company for a year. In 1960 he began working for the J.C. Penney Company and worked there until 1985 when he retired. Kenny was a devoted father who worked hard to support his family and make sure they could all attend college. He moved to Bellevue, NE, in 2006 to be closer to his children, but his heart was always in Columbus where he had many kind friends and neighbors.
Kenny was a member of the VFW and belonged to Immanuel Lutheran Church. He enjoyed gardening and spending time with his large family.

Kenneth is the proud grandfather of 13 devoted grandchildren and 10 great grandchildren
