Kathryn "Karen" Terry, beloved mother, grandmother, great grandmother, and friend, passed away peacefully on December 8, 2024 at the age of 79.
Born on October 28, 1945 to Adam and Victoria (Zelazny) Stempek. Karen grew up on their family farm in Duncan, Nebraska. The farm was a place of cherished memories where she developed a deep appreciation for cooking and a strong connection to her roots on the farm. She graduated from Duncan High school in 1963 where she was part of the cheerleading team.
Karen married Daniel Adkisson whom she shared her four children. Raising her kids was her true passion and made her so proud. Her children remember her for her abundance of baked goods including her homemade cinnamon rolls and her joy of gift giving for all occasions.
On June 7, 1991 she wed Jim Terry. After retiring from Orion Corporation she spent much of her time as a proud member of St. Bonaventure Catholic Church in Columbus. Karen enjoyed family gatherings cooking her famous Mexican casserole, meatloaf or deviled eggs, watching endless hours of western movies, and Duncan Polka dances. One of her fondest memories was a family trip they took to Hawaii in 2008. However, nothing compared to how proud she was to be a grandmother and great grandmother.
Karen lived a life full of love, kindness, and unwavering strength. She enriched the lives of everyone she encountered with her warmth, wit, humor and gentle spirit. Her love for her family was the cornerstone of her life and her home was a haven where countless memories were created.
