Katherine "Kate" Ann (Sock) Gentleman Knopik, 92, died peacefully on April 12,2015 at Heritage of Bel Air in Norfolk, Nebraska.
Kate Knopik was born August 8,1922 to Mike and Eva (Sumovick) Sock. She attended grade school at Krakow Parochial School and graduated in 1940 from Silver Creek High School.
On October 2,1946 at Sts. Peter & Paul Catholic Church at Krakow, Nance County, Nebraska, she married James F. Gentleman. Together they had two daughters, Shirley A and Diane M.
Kate and Jim lived in Silver Creek after their marriage. After Jim's death in 1966, Kate worked at the Silver Coin Drive-In in Silver Creek and was famous for her home made donuts. She was active in her church.
On July 22,1972, Kate married Frank Knopik and she acquired four step-children; Theresa, Jeff, Barry, and Michele. She was happiest when her home was full of family and she was cooking one of her famous meals.
She is survived by her daughter, Shirley (Steve) Powers of Norfolk; daughter, Diane Butcher of Norfolk; step-daughter, Theresa (Al) Zabawa of Norfolk; Step-son, Jeff Knopik of Lincoln; Step-son, Barry (Kimberly) Knopik of Lincoln; step-daughter, Michele (Troy) Ott of Lincoln; 14 grandchildren; and 15 great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her husbands, James Gentleman in 1966 and Frank Knopik in 2014; her parents, Mike and Eva Sock; seven brothers; four sisters; and one grandson, Scott James Powers.
