Katherine Cuba, 90, of Genoa passed away Wednesday Oct. 24, 2007, at Genoa Community LTC.
Katherine was born in January , 1917, North of Clarks to Peter & Frances (Dush) Urkoski. She attended boarding school at Saint's Peter & Paul Catholic School, Krakow, NE. She married Felix Cuba in 1935 and briefly lived on a farm east of Clarks before moving to Chicago. They returned to the Krakow area in the 40's to farm.
Katherine and Felix raised two son's, Jerry (Shirley) Cuba of Rural Barstow, CA & Jim (Nancy) Cuba of Rural Columbus. Katherine was a member of the Krakow Women's Rosary Altar Society and loved gardening, reading, watching and feeding songbirds. After the death of her husband in 1987, she continued to live on the farm sharing the country life with her dog Cookie.
Katherine is survived by her two sons, five grandchildren and 5 great grandchildren. In addition to her husband, she was preceded in death by her parents; five brothers, Andrew, Edward, John, Lonnie & Pete Urkoski; and three sisters, Elsie Cutsor, Clara Dembowski, and Mary Fox.
Visitation will be 4:00 8:00 p.m. Monday at McKown Funeral Home in Columbus.
As per Katherines wishes, her body was cremated and her ashes will be interned privately at the Krakow Cemetery at a future date. Memorials may be made to the Krakow Women's Rosary Altar Society
