Karen Spall, age 79, of Columbus, died Monday May 14, 2018 at Mory's Haven.
Karen was born July 29, 1938 in Bowman, North Dakota to Paul and Doris (Wilner) Zielsdorf. She graduated from Rhame High School in 1956. She continued her education at North Dakota State University-Fargo where she received her B.S in Dietetics. She was married to Richard Spall in Oregon. She lived in various locations throughout her life including Oregon, Oklahoma, Georgia and South Carolina before moving to Columbus. She worked as the Food Service Director for the Columbus Community Hospital for many years until her retirement. She enjoyed bird watching, playing bridge, listening to the Huskers, traveling and camping. She was a member of Trinity Lutheran Church. She continued her connection to the hospital by volunteering at the hospital gift shop. Most importantly, she was a loving mom and grandma and devoted friend.

Son: Michael (Cheryl) Spall of Pocatello, ID
Daughter: Jean (Doug) Popham of Tucson, AZ
4 Grandchildren: Madeline, Matthew, Lauren and Maya
Sister: Joan Whaley of Fargo, ND
She was preceded in death by her parents.
