Karen Ann Cerny died Sunday, October 6, 2024 in Columbus , Nebraska.

Mass of Christian Burial is 10:30 Thursday, October 10, 2024 at St. Isidore Catholic Church. Visitation is Thursday morning 9:30 a.m. until service time at the church.

In lieu of flowers and plants, memorials are suggested to Scotus Central Catholic Memorial Fund or Paws and Claws Adoption Center.

Karen was born October 15, 1953 in Columbus to Daniel and Lorene ( Rosenberry ) Cerny.  She grew up in Columbus and graduated from Scotus Central Catholic in 1971. She continued her education at Barat College in Lake Forest, Illinois graduating in 1975 with degrees in psychology and theatre/dance. She retired in 2018 after a successful career in commercial property management in Denver, Colorado. Karen was a devout Catholic. Her loyalty to friends and family was extraordinary, She had a soft spot in her heart for all animals. Her faithful companions were her dogs, Cooper and Schuyler. Her adventurous spirit inspired her to travel to several countries. At home she enjoyed cheering for the Huskers and Denver Broncos, reading novels, playing golf and gardening.

Nephews: Danny Peck, Matt (Jacque) Peck

Great Niece: Clara Peck

Brother: Dean (Traci) Cerny

Nephew: Andy (Alisha) Cerny

Niece: Leigh (Blake) Becher

Great Niece: Sophie Cerny

Cousins: Dave (Susan) Hogelin, Lynette Hogelin, Valerie (Vince) Carlone, Rob (Lynn) Rosenberry, Eric Rosenberry, Steve (Cheri) Rosenberry

She was preceded in death by her father: Daniel Cerny and beloved companions: Cooper and Schuyler
