Judy Strong

Judy Lynn Strong, age 68 of Genoa, died Wednesday, June 1, 2022, at Faith Regional Hospital in Norfolk.

Services are 10:30 a.m. Tuesday, June 7, 2022, at Augustana Lutheran Church in Genoa. Visitation is 5:00 - 7:00 p.m. Monday at the McKown-Rice Funeral Home in Genoa. Visitation will continue Tuesday morning from 9:30 - 10:30 a.m. at the church. Burial is in Valley View Cemetery in Genoa.

Judy Lynn Strong was born March 1, 1954, in New Berlin, New York to Donald and Shirley (Bodley) Vaughn. She grew up in Florida before moving to Genoa, Nebraska to be united in marriage to Gary Strong on August 1, 1981. Together they had two boys, Kurt and Tyler.

Judy was a very independent, hard-working woman. She worked at Dale Electronics in Columbus, then at the local donut shop in Genoa. After that, she stayed home to take care of her boys before going to work as a cook at Genoa Public Schools. Once the kids got older, she spent a lot of time mowing yards with them. Although it was work, she loved being outdoors and anything to do with landscaping and gardening. Judy was a person that would do anything for anyone and cared deeply about those she loved. She loved dogs and spending time with her kids and grandkids.

Judy is survived by her husband, Gary, of Genoa; sons, Kurt (Kasey) Strong, of Genoa and Tyler (Kaylee) Strong of Monroe; step-daughter Leslie (Chris) Styskal, of Genoa; sister Jacky (Gale) Strong of Rising City; sister-in-law, Sharon (Mike) Meyer of Clarkson; grandchildren Josh, Caleb, Isaac, and Elizabeth Styskal, Cooper Strong, and another Strong grandbaby on the way; many nieces and nephews.

Judy is preceded in death by her parents, Don and Shirley (Bodley) Vaughn; parents-in-law, Melvin and Carol (Belgum) Strong; sister and brother-in-law, Vicky and David Gaston; infant son, Jamie Keene and twin granddaughters Grace and Harper Strong.
