Joyce Niedbalski of Columbus died Sunday, June 16, 2019 at Brookestone Acres in Columbus.
Mass of Christian Burial is 10:30 am Wednesday, June 19 at St. Anthony Catholic Church with Rev.Ross Burkhalter officiating. Visitation is on Tuesday from 5-7 pm at St. Anthony's with a 4:30 pm C.D.A. Rosary and a 7:00 pm Vigil service, also at the church. Visitation continues on Wednesday from 9:30 am until service time at the church. Interment is in St. Bonaventure Cemetery.
Joyce was born to Homer and Ima (Laflin) Mitzlaff in Omaha, NE. She married Walter George Niedbalski on October 17, 1964 at St. Adalbert's Catholic Church in Omaha, NE.
They moved to Columbus, NE in June 1971 where they opened Nieds Meat Store on 11 th St. The business became Nieds Meat and Grocery in 1983 when it moved to 17 th St. After 31 years, Joyce retired.
Joyce enjoyed singing, cooking, and volunteering. She was a Cub Scout Den Mother and a Girl Scout Troop Leader. She was a member of St. Anthony Church, St. Theresa Sodality, Catholic Daughters, Eagles Auxiliary, Hospital Auxiliary, and Red Hat Society. Joyce was a polio survivor, breast cancer survivor, and a Left Right Center Champion.
Joyce is survived by: husband - Walter; Children – Dan (Ida), Patty (Mark) Krings, Jeff (Kelli), Joe (Becki), Mike (fiancé Devan); Grandchildren – Misael (Vironica), Richardo, Griselle (Hernan), Justin, Zachariah (Alexa), Makayla, Isaac, Mariah, Andrew, Anthony, Nicholas, Josie, Lydia, Charlotte, Capri.
Preceded in death by: Parents; Siblings - Betty Smith, Katherine Oliver, Darold Mitzlaff, Byrl Gladfelter.
Joyce had a selfless soul and found happiness in caring for and bringing joy to others.
