Joyce Marie Navrkal was born October 7, 1946 in Columbus, Nebraska to Joseph and Helen (Henderson) Splichal, Sr. She married Gary Navrkal November 16, 1963. Joyce worked at St. Marys Hospital and Dale Electronics. After that, she worked with Gary at L and L Livestock. They moved to Bellwood in 1978 to farm with Adolph, then farmed on their own. She also worked 6 years for Fontanelle Detasseling, 30 years at Columbus Ag Park horse races, and drove bus for Bellwood and David City for 12 years. Joyce enjoyed raising and riding quarter horses. She also enjoyed science, archeology, and all world history. Her greatest love was her family and friends, and Native American history.
