Josephine died Thursday, February 3, 2011 at the Golden Living Center in Columbus.

Josephine M. Sliva was born March 18, 1912 in Tarnov, Nebraska to Stanley and Mary (Jarosz) Starzec. She attended St. Michael's school in Tarnov and St. Anthony School in Cedar Rapids. Josephine married Dennis Sliva on October 24, 1939 at St. Anthony Catholic Church in Cedar Rapids. She lived and farmed by Tarnov until moving to Columbus in 1978. Josephine was a member of St. Isidore Church, Christian Mothers and the American Legion Auxiliary. She enjoyed watching and listening to all sports, playing cards and bingo.

Brother: Sylvester Starzec of Columbus, NE
15 Grandchildren and 32 Great Grandchildren
