Josephine M. Bothe, age 95, of Columbus died Tuesday, February 23, 2010 at the Golden Living Center in Columbus.
Josephine M. Bothe was born November 30, 1914 in Humphrey, Nebraska to Levi and Catherine (Biedinger) Messersmith. She graduated from St. Francis High School in Humphrey in 1932. She moved to Columbus where she worked at Scott's Dime Store from 1932-1937. Josephine married Henry B. Bothe on March 30, 1937 in Tekamah, Nebraska. They lived in Lindsay until 1945 when they moved to Columbus. Along with raising her family she worked at Becton-Dickinson in accounting until her retirement in 1969. She was a member of St. Bonaventure Church and past treasurer of the St. Bonaventure Sewing Circle, Catholic Daughters of America, Franciscan Missionary Union, and St. Bonaventure Funeral Choir. Josephine volunteered at Mory's Haven, Red Cross Blood Mobile, Columbus Community Hospital Auxillary, Simon House and was active in the B-D Alumni. Memorials may be directed to St. Bonaventure Church or the family's choice.
