Joseph Mick, 95, of Bellwood, Nebraska died Tuesday, October 22, 2002 at Columbus Manor/Beverly Healthcare. Funeral Services are 10:30 a.m. Friday October 25, 2002 at St. Peter's Catholic Church in Bellwood with Reverend Jeremy Hazuka officiating. Burial is in the Presentation Cemetery - rural Bellwood. Visitation is 4:00 p.m. - 8:00 p.m. Thursday with a 7:00 p.m. Vigil Service at McKown Funeral Home in Columbus. Visitation will continue Friday morning from 9:30 a.m. until service time at the church.
Joseph F. Mick was born September 19, 1907 to Joseph and Minnie (Sprunk) Mick. He attended rural Butler County School. He was the 3rd Generation of the first settlers of the Alexis Township in Butler County. He married Lydia Gabel, January 7, 1931 at Sacred Heart Church in Shelby. They were married for 46 years before Lydia passed away on September 30, 1977. He later married Leona Janicek November 10, 1978 at St. Joseph Church in Rural Bellwood. Leona passed away August 2, 1987.
Joseph was a lifelong farmer and cattle feeder. He enjoyed his family, fishing, gardening and working with diamond willow furniture. He also enjoyed attending cattle auctions and days at Columbus Sales Pavillion where he loved the fellowship of the other cattle buyers. Joseph was a member of St. Peter's Church and St. Joseph Church in Bellwood.
