Joseph C. Kratky was born March 18, 1925 in Prague, NE to James and Emma (Mach) Kratky. He grew up in Prague and graduated from Prague High School. Joe entered the US Army during World War II where he served as a SGT. Following his discharge, Joe lived in Greeley, CO for a short time before attending the University of Nebraska-Lincoln where he received his Electrical Engineering Degree. Joe was united in marriage to Burnetta Yarger on January 18, 1952 in Beatrice, NE. After their marriage, Joe made his home in Columbus where he worked at Soil Movers, Behlens, and at Henkes. Following Joe's retirement, he enjoyed dancing, woodworking, Husker fan, football, and flowers. He was a member of St. Bonaventure Catholic Church, Holy Name Society, and Perpetual Adoration. Joe was a member of the VFW and the Lamp Lighters Dance Club.

Grandchildren: Abby (Jason) Shiffermiller of Omaha, Kelly (Andrew) Petersen of Pleasanton, NE, Kate (Derek) Thomas of Lincoln, NE, and Bradley Cheloha of Columbus.
Great Grandchildren: Revere and Mazlow Thomas, Liam Petersen, and Arthur Shiffermiller
