John Penne of Columbus died Wednesday, March 24, 2021 at his home.
Mass of Christian Burial is 10:30 am Monday, March 29, at St. Isidore Catholic Church with Rev. Joseph Miksch officiating. Visitation will be Sunday, March 28, 2021 from 3:00 - 5:00 PM at St. Isidore Catholic Church. There will be a 5:00 P.M. Vigil service. Interment will be in the All Saints Cemetery with Military Honors by American Legion Hartman Post # 84 Honor Guard.
John Penne was born September 8, 1926 in Stratton, CO to Mike and Mary (Rotert) Penne. He grew up in Stratton, CO and in Elgin, NE where he graduated from St. Boniface High School in 1944. He enlisted in the US Navy during World War II where he served as a Fireman First Class from 1944-1946. He returned to Elgin after his time in the service. On January 17, 1952 John married Monica Heil at St. Boniface Catholic Church. In 1968 they moved to Columbus.
John was a sales rep for Arnold Motor Supply out of Spencer, IA. He retired in 1981. John was a member of St. Isidore Church where he served as an usher, the American Legion, and the VFW. John was a people person and enjoyed his work.
