John C. Paprocki, 89, of Columbus died Thursday, August 28,2008, at Golden Living Center in Columbus.
Mass of Christian Burial will be at 10:30 a.m. Tuesday September 2, 2008, at St. Bonaventure Catholic Church in Columbus with the Rev.Tom Weisbecker officiating. Burial will be at St. Michaels Cemetery in Tarnov at 1 :30P.M. following the lunch. There will be Military graveside services by the Hartman Post #84, American Legion Honor Guard. A wake service will be held at McKown funeral home in Columbus at 7 :00 p.m. Monday. Visitation will be from 5-7 p.m. Monday at the funeral home. Visitation will continue Tuesday morning 8-10 a.m. at the funeral home.
In lieu of flowers memorials may be directed to the St Michaels Historical Society of Tarnov Nebraska or the donors choice.
Mr. Paprocki was born June 27, 1919 at rural Tarnov. He was the 6th of 8 children born to John and Constance (Lassek) Paprocki. He graduated from the 8th grade at St. Michaels Grade School in Tamov. He then attended and graduated from St Francis High School in Humphrey. He entered the military, August 25th 1941. He was honorably discharged December 19th
1945 from the U.S. Army Air Corps with the rank of Sergeant. During his service he was a supply clerk and aerial gunner. Serving stateside on B-17 and B-29 Bombers during World War II. After the war he resided and farmed near Tarnov with his brother, Rosmund, until their retirement in 1989. At this time they moved to Columbus. He enjoyed and was quite knowledgeable in American History. He also enjoyed having coffee at the Tarnov elevator and other places with his friends. Mr. Paprocki was a member of St Bonaventure Catholic Church and American Legion Post 84 of Columbus.
Survivors include his brother: Rosmund and sister: Alice Paprocki both of Columbus. As well as sister-in-law Celestine (Sally) Paprocki of Humphrey. He is also survived by numerous nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents, sisters Rose and Evelyn, and brothers Michael, Dennis and Heliodore (Dores).
