John D. Matteson

John passed away unexpectedly Sunday, May 21, 2017 while on a hunting trip in Kansas.

John D. Matteson was born August 8, 1958 in Mount Ayr, Iowa to Frank and Maxine (Zechmeister) Matteson. He grew up in Grant City, Missouri and graduated from Grant City High School in 1976. In 1981 John received his Bachelor of Science Degree in Agricultural Economics from the University of Missouri. Following graduation John moved to Columbus, Nebraska and began work as a sales manager at Fleischer Manufacturing. On September 6, 1986 he married Michele Behlen at Immanuel Lutheran Church in Columbus. John also worked for Red Country International, Beller & Backes, Osceola Implement and Strobel Manufacturing, spending 35 years in the Agricultural field. In 2016, he began working as a realtor for United Country Land Home and Auction. John's biggest joy was coaching his children's sports - soccer, baseball, football, basketball and softball. He also loved to hunt with his children. John was an adult member of Boy Scout Troop 276, helping several scouts earns their Eagle Rank. He received the Boy Scouts of America Silver Beaver Award in 2014. John also was on the Lakeview Adult Booster Club for many years. His motto was "It's all about the kids".
