John T. Gleason, age 99, of Columbus died Sunday, October 30, 2011 at the Golden Living Center on Columbus.
John Thomas Gleason was born April 4, 1912 in Lindsay, Nebraska to John M. and Anna (Gleeson) Gleason. He moved to Platte Center with his family at an early age. He worked on various farms in Platte Center and Duncan. In 1946 he moved to Fremont and worked at the Nebraska Ordanance Plant in Mead. He then worked at Nebraska Crib and Silo. In 1950 he began working for the Chicago & Northwestern Railroad. He married Eleanor M. Vonnahms on February 27, 1954 at St. Patricks Catholic Church in Fremont. John retired in 1977 from Chicago & Northwestern Railroad. Eleanor died in 1990. John later returned to the Columbus where he has lived since. He was memeber of St. Isidore Catholic Church,Brotherhood of Maintanance of Way Employees, and past member of the Fraternal Order of Eagles Aerie 200.
