Joe Svehla of Columbus died Monday, May 11, 2009 at Immanuel Medical Center in Omaha.

Joseph L. "Joe" Svehla was born December 23, 1942 in Clarkson, NE to Longin & Stephana (Stanek) Svehla. He graduated from Madison High School in 1961 and entered the National Guard. On September 18, 1965, he was united in marriage to Jolene Preister in Lindsay. They lived in Madison before moving to Columbus in 1971. Joe worked as an auto mechanic for several different shops in Columbus. He was currently employed at Tran-Tec. Joe was a member of St. Isidore Catholic Church where he was an EME and belonged to the Knights of Columbus. He loved playing cards, woodworking, playing the accordion, the Huskers, and playing with his grandchildren.

He is survived by:

Son John (Kristen) Svehla of Omaha, NE
Brother Dennis (Pat) Svehla of Snyder, NE
15 Grandchildren
