Joan Maurer

Joan J. Maurer, age 82, of Silver Creek, Nebraska died Wednesday, January 30, 2008 at the Midwest Covenant Home in Stromsburg, Nebraska. Memorial Services are 11:00 am Friday at the United Methodist Church in Silver Creek with Reverend Tamara Holtz officiating. There is no visitation. Burial will be at a later date in the Silver Creek Cemetery.

Joan J. Maurer was born February 22, 1925 in Lincoln to Leonard "Pete" and Myrtle (Squier) Crellin. She received her nursing degree from UNMC in Omaha then went to work at the VA Hospital in Lincoln. Joan married Edward L. Maurer on September 4, 1949 in Clarinda, IA. They lived on the family farm in Silver Creek where she did home health care in the Silver Creek area. Joan was a member of the United Methodist Church in Silver Creek, hosted bridge club, sewing club, and enjoyed going to Nebraska football games.
