Jean Wilson, 55, of Columbus died Thursday, February 1, 2007 at Bryan-LGH East in Lincoln. Services are 11:00 am Tuesday at St. Stanislaus Catholic Church in Duncan. There will be a Vigil Service at 7:00 pm Monday at St. Stanislaus Church. The family will receive friends on Monday from 6-7 pm, also at the church. Memorials are suggested to the wishes of the family.
Jean Wilson was born February 1, 1952 in Columbus to Thaddeus "Ted" and Marcella (Micek) Slusarski. She grew up in rural Duncan and graduated from Shelby High School in 1971. Following high school, Jean continued her education at Central Community College-Platte Campus in Columbus. On August 5, 1972 she was united in marriage to Leonard "Butch" Zelasney in Duncan at St. Stanislaus Catholic Church. Jean worked for the Columbus Telegram where she was the Assistant Editor. Jean also wrote a children's book titled "Do Pigs Sit in Trees" which was published in 1980. Jean had also been involved in several other writing projects including work for Purina Pet Food Company, local history guides, and a novel in the final stages titled "Maudy's Home." Jean volunteered at the Columbus Center for Survivors, Arc of Platte County and the Columbus Public Library. Jean was a member of St. Isidore Catholic Church in Columbus and had been involved with various responsibilities at St. Isidore and St. Stanislaus Catholic Church in Duncan. She enjoyed writing, reading, painting, and traveling.
